Dragonflies and Damselflies

The dragonflies group includes all members of the Odonata order which is dragonflies and damselflies. Easily recognisable by the two pairs of similar sized membranous wings and long slender abdomen. They have large compound eyes and very small antennae. Dragonflies differ to damselflies in that the hindwings are slightly broader than the forewings and the wings are held horizontal when at rest. Conversely the damselflies wings are of similar size and are generally held upward when at rest.
